Weekly Art Piece #Not a Week

This week’s piece is Light Bar

I took this picture in a hotel room in Pennsylvania. I liked the light and the way it lit the room, so I took a picture. I used my Sony DSC-H1, and did not do any doctoring of the picture. I took many different angles, but decided on this one as the best. I’m pretty sure I was standing on the bed when I took the shot. I quite like the way it came out.

Fun Fact: These light fixtures, as well as everything else in the hotel room was for sale.

Weekly Art Piece #3

This Week’s Piece is Too Much Caffeine, Not Enough Sleep.

I took this photo shortly after getting my Sony DSC-H1. I was playing around with shutter speeds, and had an idea that I could represent the somewhat skewed sense of vision you get at 3 AM after 4 hours of playing UTK2K4 in a dark room. It got somewhat exaggerated, but still came out looking quite good, in my opinion. I have to say that that light above the monitor works quite well for the photo.

Fun Fact: I was torrenting and listening to Green Day when I took this picture.

Weekly Art Piece #2

This week’s piece is Where is My Mind?

I remember seeing the stock photo I used for this picture and thinking “I really like this, and I really want to use this.” At the time, I was working on the idea of insanity (a period of time that would eventually lead to On The Edge of Insanity), and I really wanted to see what I could do with this. I like the idea that there are times when we can’t really figure out what’s going on in our minds, because they’re all over the place. And she really looked confused in the picture, so I put a bunch of emotions and worries in her mind. The blue tint came about because I didn’t think it looked good if I left it black and white. I then wrote Where Is My Mind over and you have this.

Fun Fact: Death is hand-written in her head, but all the other worries are typed

Weekly Art Piece #1

So, I’ve decided that there are a bunch of pieces in my art gallery no one ever really sees. So every week I’m going to feature a new one and write about it.
This week’s piece is Stop.

I took this picture because I wanted to see what I could do with writing on my hand. I was initially going for a sort of “Deer in the Headlights” idea, with a halogen lamp clipped onto the side of my tripod, next to the camera. The pictures with that setup were OK, but not great. I then decided to seee what would happen in I used my touch lamp that emits both blue and white. The headlights idea was gone, but what came out was really good. The one down side is that most people don’t realize that there’s something on my hand (full view it, you’ll see).

Fun Fact: In this picture, my shirt is on backwards
